TommyBoy

Posted July 28th, 2010 by enorthrop

Tommy is a 7 month old blue merle Aussie boy with one blue eye and one brown eye.  Tommy’s got floppy ears and a sweet personality. When he’s told to ‘sit’, his butt hits the floor immediately!  He gets along well with other dogs and while he chases the cat, he doesn’t appear to want to harm him.  Tommy would make a fabulous all around family pet!
Unfortunately, Tommy broke his leg on June 30th and had surgery to repair it on July 1st.  He’s expected to recover fully and doesn’t seem to notice that he’s only able to use three legs right now.  Tommy is a spunky boy even as a tripod, so his energy level will likely skyrocket once he’s healed up.

Tommy likes playing with Frisbees and tug toys. He would make a great Rally O dog, or maybe even an agility or disc dog in the future.  He weighs in at about 33lbs and when mature, will be on the smaller side for a male Aussie.  Tommy is fostered in Blooming Prairie, MN.  He won’t be available for adoption till mid-August but please fill out an application now if you’re interested.  Email frankieblue {at} ymail(.)com if you’re interested in Tommy!

Pax

Posted July 28th, 2010 by enorthrop

Pax has done a complete 180 since coming into his foster home.  He is still a belly-over Velcro puppy, but he’s gotten bolder and is just happy to make you happy!  His Aussie grin rarely disappears.  Pax has learned to ‘sit’, ”lay down’ and ‘leave it’.  He is great with other dogs and his foster dad is doing a great job of introducing him to new people and situations.  He has met nearly 100 new people so far in his socializing and loved every one of them!  He doesnt pay any mind to cats or small animals and would probably do great in any family situation.
Pax is pretty much housebroken and is trusted to be loose in the house.  He does great in a fenced yard with a 4ft chainlink fence.  His new favorite game is playing ‘bobbing for apples’ with a ball in the kiddie pool!  He has not ‘spoken’ a word or offered a bark in more than a week and is the gentlest of pups.  He loves to cuddle on the couch and just be.
He’s a very mellow, easy going dog and we dont expect that to change. If you’re looking for a ‘low key’ Aussie, Pax is your guy.  Pax has been neutered and he is ready to go home with YOU!  But be careful: If you go to meet him, you won’t leave without him. He is an instant charmer and you’ll fall head over heels!  Pax is being fostered in Austin, MN. Email frankieblue {at} ymail(.)com for more info on Pax!

EZ Ryder

Posted July 28th, 2010 by enorthrop

EZ Ryder is a 1 year old blue merle Australian Shepherd mix. He is a friendly guy who loves to be with his people.
Ryder could be deemed the perfect dog.  He’s housebroken, crate trained, as well as quiet through the night in his crate.  He is fabulous with young children (is fostering with a 1yo and a 3yo) and is great with other animals.  EZ is learning to play Frisbee and with a ball.  With a little work, this guy could probably compete.   He loves to play with toys and has a good retrieve.  EZ is also food motivated.
EZ Ryder knows how to sit and come, and is working on shake and down.  He kennels fine in the car, laying down to enjoy the ride.  He walks well on a leash also.
If you’re looking for an awesome, beautiful, friendly, social companion, Ryder is your guy!  Email frankieblue {at} ymail(.)com for more info on EZ!
EZ Ryder is being fostered in Belle Plaine, MN

Rugby (Protege #0159) red Bi Australian Shepherd Puppy

Posted July 28th, 2010 by David Thurman
Rugby (Protege #0159)

Rugby (Protege #0159)

Rugby (Protege #0159) is a pint-sized velcro Aussie with a full-sized Aussie heart. A full 8.4 pounds at 1-1/2 years old, he holds his own as long as you’re willing to let him snuggle in your lap after a long day. Rugby is getting used to the new routines with his foster family, which includes a toddler, two much larger Aussies and many cats. Slowly he is getting use to the other animals, often trying to make up for his size by showing them who is boss – this is the only time he brings out his voice. He’s wonderful with the energetic toddler and with both men or women.

Rugby is also overcoming a bit of skittishness and just flat out jealousy, but is doing nicely. His foster home is working on crate training, basic commands, basic playing and learning that the other animals are no big deal – really! Rugby is comfortable and alert inside or outside the home, loving to playfully help his foster mom in the garden.

Rugby is up to date on shots, neutered, and recovering from a mild case of hookworms. He is beging fostered between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, Iowa. Contact Jayne at mcjayne {at} yahoo(.)com with questions and for more information. While we welcome your questions about this dog, all adopters are required to complete a Protege Adoption Application before being considered to adopt a Protege dog; our adoption fee is $200.

Ace (Protege #0162) Red Bi Australian Shepherd Iowa

Posted July 28th, 2010 by David Thurman
Ace (Protege #0162)

Ace (Protege #0162)

Ace (Protege #0162) is a 5 month old red-tri Aussie puppy. He has a desire to please people and learns new things quickly. Ace has learned how to hit it (touching his nose to your hand) and how to spin left to right. Ace also knows how to sit, lie down, and fetch. He is still working on housebreaking. He is very good at going potty outside as long as you take him out often. Ace is kennel trained. If you get a treat out and ask him to go to his kennel he will go in right away.

Ace has been exposed to a lot of different dogs and has yet to meet a dog that he doesn’t get a long with. He is very respectful towards the other dogs and will give them space if they need it.

Ace really seems to enjoy the water. In the last week or so Ace has learned to fetch a toy from the water and give it to his foster mom to be thrown in again. He is a very well-rounded puppy, ready to please and to learn from his new owners.

Ace is current on vaccinations and will be neutered before he is adopted. He is being fostered in Coralville, Iowa.

If you think Ace might be a good match, please contact Jayne at mcjayne {at} mcquillen(.)org. While we welcome your questions about this dog, all adopters are required to complete a Protege Adoption Application before being considered to adopt a Protege dog; our adoption fee is $200.

FILA

FILA VIDEO!

Fila is a stunning 7 month old blue merle Aussie/Cattle Dog mix with a soft, smooth coat. His marbled eyes show off his silly personality and his big feet tell that he’s still growing!
Fila gets along with most everybody and even ignored the cat.  He crates well and loves to play.  He will wrestle and chase with the other dogs all day long!  Fila is housebroken and cratetrained.
Fila doesn’t know a stranger and isn’t very vocal at this point.  He’s definitely not a guard barker type.  Fila is enough Cattle Dog that he thinks hopping up onto the coffee table is acceptable, but we’ll soon teach him that it’s not.
He is also a bit possessive of his food at this point.  Not aggressively, but enough warning to require a bit of work. Fila will make a dream dog for almost any family.  He’s athletic and loves to play.  Fila is being fostered in Blooming Prairie, MN   Email frankieblue {at} ymail(.)com for more information on Fila!

Haggi (Goldie) NS 0644

Haggi (Goldie) NS 0644

Haggi who’s name means festive is a 2 old red merle Australian Shepherd mix. Haggi is a typical enthusiastic, energetic velcro dog. She is reserved at first with people she doesn’t know but a little sweet talk and a treat quickly wins her over. She is very quiet and good in her crate. She loves other dogs but sometimes can play a little rough – she is OK with dog savvy cats, but likes to chase them. Haggi loves to run outside and keep busy but she also settles down nicely once inside and her favorite place to nap is laying next to her foster mom. She waits at the door before going outside and walks well on leash. Haggi is a little thin right now but her optimum weight would be around 40 lbs.
